Light For Ceiling Fan – The flush-style ceiling fan is mounted snugly alongside a flat horizontal fairly low ceiling where it is dealt with, and where it delivers a comforting room breeze. It comes in several diameters, from about 28 to 60-inches, with regards to the size of the room being fitted, and can cost typically from $30 to $300. It generally has three fan motor speeds, which are reversible. Except for the equipment and possible other areas needed for installing them, their self-assemble kits include everything else. In many cases, the fan, that can have a unique lighting, will replace a ceiling light fixture.
Safety, The electricity should be off once your there the location where the fan will be installed. If the fan is replacing a light fixture, shut down its fuse or circuit breaker as well as flipping its wall switch the signal from the off position. Stand on a sturdy wide-berth step stool or ladder throughout the installation; do not lean or enter into a twisted position while there. Also, wear protective eye glasses or goggles. Furthermore, if additional auxiliary household wiring is necessary, get professional advice or help first. Tools needed, instructions (electrical) eye glasses or goggles step-stool/ladder Phillips screwdrivers pliers electrical tape knife or sissors AC tester light wire cutter/stripper tape measure (optional) electric drill and additional screws for securing the junction box, if required
Installation steps (after reading the fan installation instructions thoroughly). 1. Remove the light fixture from your ceiling. With the electricity off, slowly take away the shade, bulbs, and fixture screws from your electrical junction box inside the ceiling. Let the skeleton fixture hang there. With the light tester, make sure the wire connections to this particular fixture are cold (test light will remain off). Cut the wires, leaving 3-5″ of tail to get in touch these phones the ceiling fan motor assembly. If the residence is old, only two wires might exist, a black one plus a white one. Tip: also confirm the firmness in the electrical box inside the ceiling. If it is not solidly attached to the ceiling, add two extra screws to its top side, which can require drilling two holes inside the box for the children. The ceiling fan is heavier compared to light fixture. It also wobbles slightly during operation. 2. Install the mounting bracket. After stripping the ends in the tailing wires inside the junction box cleanly, install the mounting bracket towards the box using the two 5/32″ screw-bolts provided. Let the tailing wires hang outside in the bracket. 3. Hang the motor assembly from your bracket. Insert the topside motor-hanger in the centralized holder in the bracket. Insert the plastic lock clip that holds it into place. Note: the hanging motor assembly really should swivel slightly. 4. Connect the wiring. Generally, the motor assembly has two so-called hot wires, a black one to the motor plus a blue or off-color one to the lights being attached below it. Overlap the stripped ends of such two wires (motor and lights) together using the stripped end in the black ceiling wire inside the box, and twist connect them together using the wire nut provided. Connect the white assembly wire towards the white ceiling wire exactly the same.
Then, to hold these connections from loosening while the fan is working, tape the wide lower ends of such nuts with their wires with electrical tape. Also, attach the green fan wire (ground wire from your bracket frame) towards the electrical box if the box can also be grounded which has a third bare or green wire. Otherwise, if the electrical box in not grounded, ask a specialist about it green wire connection. Some will say to let it rest be, i.e., relax from it. Others could suggest further wiring? 5. Install the flush-mount motor shroud. Install the motor shroud towards the far ends in the mounting bracket using the small screws provided. It covers/hides the sides in the motor and the wiring and ceiling box. 6. Assemble the fan blades (3 to 4) and mount them. After deciding on the top or bottom reversible blade color scheme preferred, attach the blades with their end brackets using the screws and washers provided. Then mount the blades towards the bottom side of fan motor using the bolts, lock washers, and dampening gaskets provided. Note: these latter pieces sometimes are partially pre-installed towards the motor to hold them separate from your rest in the kit hardware.
Tip: to hold the motor from becoming too off-level within this step, install the blades individually opposite to each other in the first place. 7. Install the lighting assembly. Attach the fan’s lighting assembly towards the small round central housing unit just beneath the fan blades via the quick-wire-connectors and small screws provided. Install the glass shades, bulbs, and pull-chain extenders inside the order instructed. Note: a housing cap is provided if the lighting assembly just isn’t wanted at all. 8. Test the fan and lights. After turning the electricity back on, flip the wall switch the signal from on. Set the pull-chain switches as desired. Often, the fan lighting is set in the future on using the wall switch, while the fan itself is controlled with the pull-chain switch only, initially set inside the off position. Note: The ceiling fan features a reversible motor switch that permits the draft either to go upward or downward as preferred.
