Lodge Ceiling Fan – The flush-style ceiling fan is mounted snugly next to a flat horizontal fairly low ceiling where it can be out of the way, and from which it delivers a comforting room breeze. It comes in several diameters, from about 28 to 60-inches, according to the size of room being fitted, which enable it to cost typically from $30 to $300. It generally has three fan motor speeds, that are reversible. Except for the equipment and possible other parts essential for installing them, their self-assemble kits include the rest. In many cases, the fan, that may have a unique lighting, will replace a ceiling fitting.
Safety, The electricity should be off at the site where the fan will be installed. If the fan is replacing a fitting, de-activate its fuse or circuit breaker in addition to flipping its wall change to the off position. Stand on a sturdy wide-berth step stool or ladder through the installation; don’t lean or enter a twisted position while there. Also, wear protective eye-glasses or goggles. Furthermore, if additional auxiliary household wiring should be used, get professional advice or help first. Installation steps (seeing the fan installation instructions thoroughly). 1. Remove the fitting from the ceiling. With the electricity off, slowly remove the shade, bulbs, and fixture screws from the electrical junction box in the ceiling. Let the skeleton fixture hang there. With the light tester, ensure that the wire connections to this particular fixture are cold (test light will continue to be off). Cut the wires, leaving 3-5″ of tail for connecting them to the ceiling fan motor assembly. If the residence is old, only two wires might exist, a black one and a white one. Tip: also look at the firmness from the electrical box in the ceiling. If it can be not solidly coupled to the ceiling, add two extra screws to its top side, that might require drilling two holes in the box for the children. The ceiling fan is heavier compared to fitting. It also wobbles slightly during operation. 2. Install the mounting bracket. After stripping the ends from the tailing wires in the junction box cleanly, install the mounting bracket for the box while using two 5/32″ screw-bolts provided. Let the tailing wires hang outside from the bracket. 3. Hang the motor assembly from the bracket. Insert the topside motor-hanger to the centralized holder from the bracket. Insert the plastic lock clip that holds it into place. Note: the hanging motor assembly should really swivel slightly. 4. Connect the wiring. Generally, the motor assembly has two so-called hot wires, a black one for the motor and a blue or off-color one for the lights to get attached below it. Overlap the stripped ends of these two wires (motor and lights) together while using stripped end from the black ceiling wire in the box, and twist connect them together while using wire nut provided. Connect the white assembly wire for the white ceiling wire exactly the same way.
Then, to maintain these connections from loosening whilst the fan is working, tape the wide lower ends of these nuts to their wires with electrical tape. Also, attach the green fan wire (ground wire from the bracket frame) for the electrical box in the event the box is also grounded with a third bare or green wire. Otherwise, in the event the electrical box in not grounded, ask an experienced relating to this green wire connection. Some will say to leave it be, i.e., relax with it. Others could suggest further wiring? 5. Install the flush-mount motor shroud. Install the motor shroud for the far ends from the mounting bracket while using small screws provided. It covers/hides the perimeters from the motor as well as the wiring and ceiling box. 6. Assemble the fan blades (four to six) and mount them. After choosing the top or bottom reversible blade color scheme preferred, attach the blades to their end brackets while using screws and washers provided. Then mount the blades for the bottom side of fan motor while using bolts, lock washers, and dampening gaskets provided. Note: these latter pieces sometimes are partially pre-installed for the motor to maintain them separate from the rest from the kit hardware.
Tip: to maintain the motor from becoming too off-level in this step, install the blades one-by-one opposite to one another first of all. 7. Install the lighting assembly. Attach the fan’s lighting assembly for the small round central housing unit just beneath the fan blades via the quick-wire-connectors and small screws provided. Install the glass shades, bulbs, and pull-chain extenders in the order instructed. Note: a housing cap is provided in the event the lighting assembly just isn’t wanted without any reason. 8. Test the fan and lights. After turning the electricity back on, flip the wall change to on. Set the pull-chain switches as desired. Often, the fan lighting is set ahead on while using wall switch, whilst the fan itself is controlled through the pull-chain switch only, initially set in the off position. Note: The ceiling fan has a reversible motor switch that allows the draft either to go upward or downward as preferred.
